Members:
All Ontario workers have a duty under the Occupational Health & Safety Act to report hazards to their employer, and employers have a duty to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. OSSTF District 22 Niagara is represented on the DSBN Multi-Workplace Joint Health & Safety Committee by Branch Representatives and alternates.
Each OSSTF Branch should have a Representative on the D22 Health & Safety Committee. An OSSTF member who is the Site Health & Safety Representative is often chosen by the OSSTF members of the worksite as the OSSTF D22 Branch Health & Safety Representative, according to the DSBN Site Health & Safety Representative Selection Process.
Every year Members are required to complete their DSBN Health and Safety Training. This is an important part of the DSBN's obligation and it therefore is taken seriously. Training is accessed through the DSBN Employee Portal -> Resources -> Annual Training and includes modules on the following:
In an environment where the safety and well-being of our members is vital, OSSTF/FEESO created a handbook to ensure that every representative is equipped with the knowledge and tools they need.
